CD, DVD & Blu-Ray Replication and Duplication

Regardless of quantity, Dex is uniquely equipped to handle your CD, DVD or Blu-Ray project. There are two methods of manufacture; replication and duplication.

  • Duplication – quantities under 300 (similar to burning).
  • Replication – quantities from 300 and above (creates injection molded discs with guaranteed media player compatibility).

Unlike other manufacturers, Dex Audio replicates all CD and DVD orders from 300 and up. This means a fully professional end product for the smaller artists and distributors out there.

Please note that Dex does not check the content supplied only the suitability for the replication/duplication process. We encourage all our clients to check their disc content prior to submission.

Replication

For projects with quantities starting at 300**, replication (moulding) is the most reliable and consistent production method. Most commercially distributed discs are replicated discs. We manufacture all CDs and DVDs in our Melbourne factory so that we can consistently provide the best quality product at the best turnarounds available.

Replication Step-by-step

  1. Your production master is analysed to check its suitability for replication (ie: free from errors, scratches & imperfections).*
  2. A stamper is then created from the production master. The stamper is fitted into the moulding machine and is used to physically embed the production master content onto the replicated discs.
  3. Discs are injection moulded from raw polycarbonate (plastic). Molten polycarbonate flows over the stamper to form a disc with the content. The discs are then metallised and coated to protect the fine metal layer.
  4. The replicated discs are offset or screen printed and assembled with your choice of cases, wallets, sleeves etc. ready to distribute.

**CD and DVD Replication only. Minimum run size for Blu-Ray Replication is 500 units.

*Please note that Dex does not check the content supplied only the suitability for the replication/duplication process. We encourage all our clients to check their disc content prior to submission.

Duplication

For projects with quantities up to 300, duplication (or burning) is the most cost effective method of production. Using the latest automated systems, Dex can duplicate your CD, DVD or Blu-Ray project onto high quality blank media. All disc duplication is done on site in our Melbourne factory.

Duplication Step-by-step

  1. Your master disc is analyzed to check its suitability for duplication (ie: free from errors, scratches & imperfections).*
  2. Blank recordable media (CD-R/DVD-R/DVD+R DL/BD-R) is either Inkjet, Offset or Screen printed with artwork.
  3. The master and blank media are loaded into the automated duplicating systems where the master content is duplicated.
  4. The burned discs are assembled into your choice of cases, wallets, sleeves etc. ready to distribute.
